Sales Policy

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING

All offerings at Treasures of Yamato are genuine Edo‑ to early‑Shōwa‑period objects, sold strictly “as found.” Wear, patina, repairs and other traces of age are integral to their value and authenticity. Purchase only if you appreciate the character of historical pieces rather than the perfection of modern factory goods.

Studio photographs taken under daylight‑balanced lighting depict the exact item you will receive; however, colour may vary slightly from screen to screen. Additional images or condition details are gladly provided before checkout.

ORDER & PAYMENT

Prices are listed in United States dollars and are payable through PayPal. For PayPal Seller Protection compliance we ship exclusively to the name and address shown on the PayPal transaction record. No address changes can be accepted after payment clears; if an error is discovered, please cancel the payment and repurchase with corrected details before the item is removed from sale.

DISPATCH & SHIPPING

Orders paid before 10:00 (Japan Standard Time) normally leave the same business day; later payments ship the next business day. Export‑controlled or oversized items may require additional paperwork; you will be notified immediately if processing takes longer.

Parcels travel via fully‑tracked express services—Japan Post EMS or DHL—at our discretion and are automatically insured when the declared value exceeds 250 USD. Insurance for lower‑value shipments can be added at cost on request. Conservation‑grade materials and double‑walled cartons are used for every shipment.

On delivery, please inspect both item and outer carton. Photograph any damage and all packing materials within forty‑eight hours. Retain all contents while we initiate a carrier claim; failure to document damage promptly may void reimbursement.

RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS

All sales are final. We cannot accept cancellations once payment has been received, because export documentation is opened and the piece is withdrawn from public sale immediately.

Returns are possible only when a listing contains a material factual error—for example, an incorrect historical period—and only if you notify us within fourteen days of confirmed delivery and return the item within the following seven days. Visible surface characteristics such as glaze nuance, tiny firing flaws or minor wear are not grounds for return once photographs (including any you requested) have been reviewed.

Items accompanied by a Treasures of Yamato certificate of authenticity, or sold at a negotiated or promotional price, are not eligible for return except where mandatory consumer‑protection law requires otherwise. In authenticity disputes, only documentation issued by duly authorised Japanese governmental or quasi‑governmental bodies will be considered; privately commissioned opinions are not recognised.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS

Import duties, VAT, GST and brokerage fees are set by your government and collected by the carrier. These charges are not included in the sale price or shipping cost. Refusal of a shipment for non‑payment of import fees will be treated as a buyer‑initiated return, and outbound shipping, return shipping and any associated costs will be deducted from the refundable amount.

You are responsible for ensuring that the item may be lawfully imported into your jurisdiction. We provide accurate HS codes and complete customs documentation with every parcel and can obtain cultural‑property certificates when required.

LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Treasures of Yamato shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising out of the purchase or use of the item. Our maximum liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the item and its shipping.

By completing your purchase you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to all terms above as well as the general Trocadero Conditions of Use. Thank you for supporting the preservation of authentic Japanese art and craftsmanship.
